Sweet and Savory Garlic Scallion Chicken
When life gets busy, having a quick, flavorful dinner recipe in your back pocket is a game-changer. This Sweet and Savory Garlic Scallion Chicken is the answer to your weeknight woes. Inspired by a classic scallion chicken dish, I added my own spin with juicy chicken breasts, a touch of brown sugar for sweetness, and aromatic minced garlic that makes the flavors pop.

This dish is a perfect blend of savory, slightly sweet, and deeply comforting. It’s simple enough for a weekday dinner but delicious enough to impress at a dinner party. Plus, it pairs beautifully with rice or noodles to soak up all that mouthwatering sauce!
Garlic Scallion Chicken Recipe:
Ingredients
Avocado Oil
1.5 LBS Chicken Breast, cut into small pieces
2 scallions, chopped with the whites and greens separated
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1.5 teaspoons minced garlic
1/2 tablespoon oyster sauce
1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder (more or less to your liking)
1/4 cup cornstarch
Instructions
Step 1: Marinate the Chicken: Combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, garlic, pepper, and cornstarch in a bowl and mix well. Add Chicken. Mix well and let marinate for 10 minutes. While the chicken marinates, chop the scallions, keeping the white and green parts separate.
Step 2: Pan-fry the Chicken: Heat oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken and pan-fry until fully cooked, ensuring each piece is golden brown and tender.
Step 3: Add Scallions: Stir in the white parts of the scallions and cook until softened. If using larger or bone-in chicken pieces, cover the pan with a lid and cook until the chicken is thoroughly done. Finish by tossing in the green scallion tops and stir for 10–20 seconds to gently wilt them.
Step 4: Serve and Garnish: Transfer the chicken to a serving dish and sprinkle with additional pepper or chopped scallions, if desired. Pair with rice or noodles for a complete meal.
